Research Opportunity: The merit of online migraine communities
A unique research opportunity for Migraine.com community members:
My name is Jacqueline van der Marel and I’ve been having migraine with auras since I was about 13 years old. Thankfully I have been able to control my migraines due to a restricted diet and hormones. Nevertheless I can relate to your stories and I hope you too will be so blessed to find an individually suited therapy. I think the discussions on online communities like Migraine.com are extremely helpful in this and can also provide a great support system.
I am trying to understand how online migraine communities facilitate interaction and provide patients with resources to cope with their disabling illness. This because I am currently writing my thesis on social capital in online migraine communities to complete my Masters degree in Health Economics, Policy and Law at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands).
I would love to work with members of the Migraine.com community on my research. Research will consist of observations on migraine communities and e-mail interviews with you as a member of those communities. Your identity will remain anonymous and interviews will be done via e-mail.
If interested, please send me an e-mail to the following address: firstname.lastname@example.org
I hope some of you are interested in participating in my research and would like to share your opinions regarding online migraine communities. If you have any further questions regarding the research, my institution, or my supervisor, please feel free to contact me directly via e-mail.
Kind regards and wishing you all a migraine free day,
Jacqueline van der Marel BSc.
