"Let's see, long story short: I get about 2 migraines a week. Been that bad for about 2 years, but i've had about 2-3 a month for almost 10 years. At least 2-3 a month now are full blown crimpling, whole body shutting down kind of migraines, which doesn't really go with a work schedule.
It seems I get them from almost everythings: beer, too much/little caffeine, too much/little salt, not enough water, many smells, sitting/sleeping the wrong way, stress, hormones, heat.....
I dont have anything that has helped to prevent, besides trying to keep the same exact routine and avoid as many triggers as possible. I've tried topomax and a few others but decided not to take medication every day just yet. I tried magnesium (both pills and injections), botox (which was awful); i'm seeing a chiropractor for the tension in my neck that causes a lot of migraines - occasionally i get a lump on the back of my neck on the side of the migraine; i've also switched my birth control to help with the hormonal ones.
I do take relpax when i have a migraine and love it (85% of the time - i call it my crazy pill bc of the difference within 30 minutes), however I'm not allowed more than 12 a month, so i try and deal with the pain if i'm home. I have tried imitrex, masalt, frova, and a few others that didnt really help much.
So that's me. I try to be positive and cheerful all other times so that when I'm really feeling crappy, everyone who knows me makes sure not to make things worse! 😀"
