Inderal LA (propranolol) Uses

Inderal LA is Used to Prevent a Migraine Attack

Inderal LA is used to decrease the number of migraine headaches a person will suffer. Propranolol (the active ingredient in Inderal LA) is not used to treat a migraine attack in progress. A migraine is typically described as a headache disorder that causes symptoms beyond what might be considered normal including throbbing, nausea, and sensitivity to light, sound, and/or odors. Inderal LA may help prevent migraine attacks by relaxing blood vessels, including those in the brain.

Inderal LA Is Used to Treat High Blood Pressure

Inderal LA can be used to lower blood pressure in people who have high blood pressure. Inderal LA slows heart rate and causes blood vessels to relax, reducing how hard the heart must pump. Experts believe that Inderal LA may act in a variety of ways in the body which, combined, can help people with hypertension (high blood pressure) bring this condition under control.

Inderal LA Is Used to Treat Chest Pain

Inderal LA is used to treat chest pain (angina pectoris), which occurs when part of your heart doesn’t get enough oxygen-rich blood. If you have angina, you may feel pressure or a squeezing sensation in your chest. Other symptoms of angina include an upset stomach and/or pain in your chest, shoulders, arms, neck, jaw, or back. Angina is usually a symptom of heart disease. Because Inderal LA slows the heart rate and causes blood vessels to relax, it makes it less difficult for the heart to pump. This is how propranolol helps prevent angina attacks in people who have had chest pain in the past.

Inderal LA is Used to Treat Hypertrophic Subaortic Stenosis

Inderal LA is used to treat a variety of diseases related to the heart muscle, which are often referred to as hypertrophic subaortic stenosis.
