Miles for Migraine was founded in 2008 in Oakland, CA, by Eileen Jones, RN, PHN-a long-time migraine patient herself, to raise public awareness about headache disorders and the need to fund headache disorders research. Since 2008 a total of seven races have been held in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. $20,000.00 has been donated to migraine research at University of California, San Francisco’s Headache Center, $9,000.00 to the Philadelphia Children’s Hospital for headache research, and $6,000.00 to the Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy, to advocate for National Institutes of Health’s increased funding in headache disorders.
