Has anyone tried Ajovy for migraines?

Just injected first dose of Ajovy this morning. Was wondering if anyone has experience with this drug and if there has been any improvement for you. Thanks

  1. Thanks so much for posing such a good question. I hope our community members will chime in with their experiences, but in the meantime, I thought I'd share an article by one of our contributors who tried Ajovy: https://migraine.com/living-migraine/cgrp-experience/

Additionally, we have a forum dedicated to the topic of Ajovy and experiences here: https://migraine.com/topic/ajovy-share-experience/ and another dedicated to Ajovy and side effects which may be of interest to you here: https://migraine.com/topic/side-effects-ajovy/

Hope that helps. Please chime in at any of the above forums to share your experiences with the treatment.

    1. I Injected Ajovy for the first time yesterday. I will give you just my initial experience. I will send an update in a week or so. My migraines have been severe. 3 to 4 a week and climbing. I also been getting a lot of Aural, severe nausea and endorphin rushes. Last night after the shot it was like every pain point in my head was firing off. Not really bad so I just took some naproxen. Actually slept really good. I notice I am super chill today. No migraine yet. BTW i can see why people complain about site injection pain. No biggie for me but I inject intramuscular and subq. I can tell you that the needle they use is not sharp enough. I never had to push so hard to inject. It didn't really hurt for me but I am used to injections. I think someone should reach out to the manufacture.

  2. Hi amp254,

Thank you for your question. I can direct you to our discussion forum where members share their experiences taking this medication; https://migraine.com/topic/ajovy-share-experience/#post-105293.

Hopefully others will be along shortly to tell their stories as well!

Yes, I have tried Ajovy. I decided against Aimovig, but relented when my neurologist wanted me to try Ajovy. Well........... I took it in the arm, and it hurt like H....... And the next morning I woke up with a migraine, at least twice the size of the one I had the day before. The migraine feels like someone is drilling a hole in both sides of my head. After two weeks, I filled my prescription for Stadol nasal spray. Stadol usually takes the edge off a migraine. Nothing more. The Stadol did nothing for the migraine. Even after several doses. It is now 31 days, and my head still hurts like H..... I will call the Dr. on Monday. The drug companies swear up and down that there are no side effects. Did they not try it on a large enough sample???? I am so tired of medications. Ajovy is now #69 of all the migraine medications I have tried since 1982. And not a single med has provided any relief of the migraine pain that I have lived with every single day of my life, since I was a child. I have to shout out to someone. And you, dear fellow sufferers, are my only audience until I can get to someone to talk with one on one. I hope it's OK that I share this. But right now, I am shaking with the emotional pain that accompanies migraines. Thank you. Ellen Henegar.

      1. A note popped up when I hit submit suggesting that I have addressed the Ajovy conundrum in a previous entry. No, this is my first comment on Ajovy. I was given the med only 31 days ago. Thanks, EH.
