Can a broken nose trigger migraines?

I have had migraines since I was in my teens. Usually once every month or so depending on the time of year and location I'm in. I'm 41 and recently broke my nose, I now have a headache every day and a migraine 2-4 times a week. I also almost always get the "firefly" triggers but not in enough time to help minimize the onset of the migraine.

  1. Hi sustaita76,

I'm sorry to hear about your recent broken nose, I bet that's painful.

I would imagine having a broken nose could certainly trigger a migraine attack. Did the doctor suggest anything to help ease your pain?

Let me know and I hope it heals quickly!

    1. I just hit myself in the nose really hard earlier this week and have had nasty migraines all week!

  2. Ouch! Sorry to hear about the nose. The stress of I would think would be enough to trigger one. Then the face pain on top if it. Take gentle care of yourself. HUGS

    1. I have an appointment with a Neurologist next week..... I hope I get some answers and relief

      1. So sorry to hear of your difficult time...that is no fun. 🙁 I would say that a broken nose can absolutely cause headaches and migraines. I had a deviated septum (not sure if it was from an injury or if it was always like that), and I had 2 surgeries on it. One was part of sinus surgery for chronic sinusitis and headaches, and the other was a part of a nerve decompression surgery I had for my chronic intractable migraines. Both were very successful surgeries--not fun to go through--but totally worth it. Hope this helps! 😀
