Auras and Prodrome Constantly Changing?

I've tried to look this up everywhere but I can't find any sort of answer--does anyone else have constantly changing auras and prodromesymptoms? I've had every kind of aura I can find and some that I can't, and none of them more than three times. At this point, it just comes down to a gut feeling that whatever weird symptom I'm experiencing, is because a migraine is coming. For context, I've had migraines for the past 14 years. I'm not sure what to do, and I just want some reassurance that this isn't totally out of the norm!

  1. Hi Lue,

Thank you for reaching out. This must be very frustrating.

While it's not uncommon for our migraine attack patterns and symptoms to change, it's is a good idea to let the doctor know so he/she can make sure everything checks out.

If you haven't kept a detailed migraine diary recently, that may be a place to start. This way you'll be able to have migraine attack symptoms/patterns down in a concrete manner. Here is information on how to keep one; https://migraine.com/blog/keeping-migraine-diary-basics/.

Is your doctor knowledgeable about treating migraine and headache disorders? There are doctors who have extra certification in migraine and headache disease, which is different from being certified in neurology. These expert doctors treat migraine and headache all day, every day! This article explains more; https://migraine.com/getting-help/is-it-time-for-a-new-migraine-doctor/ and https://migraine.com/blog/how-are-migraine-specialists-different/.

I'm sure others will be along to share their story with you. Will you keep us posted?
    Nancy
