What migraine medication can I take when I have chronic kidney disease?

Zomig gave me CKD. My migraines make me vomit up even water for 3 days if I don't take medication, which can create a bladder infection, which is terrible for CKD...so I still take the zomig when needed. Is there any migraine medication I can take when they come on that will not harm my kidneys further?

  1. Hi vanlaanenj,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I'm sorry to hear your recent kidney diagnosis. I did find a report on Zomig and kidney disease you can read about here; https://www.ehealthme.com/ds/zomig/renal-failure/#print.

I wish I had a better answer for you, but I would suggest talking to your pharmacist and doctor to see about what medications you can take while having chronic kidney disease.

Hopefully others will be along shortly to share their stories with you.

    Nancy

    1. I have no idea. But I’m so sorry. I hope you report back whatever you find.
