Daily headache above right eye that won’t go away

I have had literally a constant headache with pain above my right eye for the past 5 years, but the pain has progressively gotten worse the last year. I have tried almost 15 different preventative meds, 5 or 6 different meds to eliminate the headache once it gets unbearable, tried nerve blocks, dietary changes (eliminating dairy, wheat, etc), acupuncture, chiropractic, dry needling, physical therapy, trigger point injections, CBD oil, Botox…you name it, I’ve tried it. Doctors have tried to break the headache with Tiraspol shots and steriods, but that hasn’t helped either.

The constant pain is getting unbearable. I wake up with this pain, I go through the day with this pain, and I go to bed with the pain. Nothing I have tried has helped. Can anyone suggest something I haven’t tried? I’m desperate to find relief!

    Hi ksm619,

I’m so sorry you have been in pain for so long. I understand how frustrating, exhausting and debilitating chronic pain can be.

The first thing that comes to mind is seeing a “true” migraine/headache expert and here’s why. These doctors may be different from neurologists in that they are board certified in headache medicine, which is different than being certified in neurology. It’s not that neurologists aren’t fine doctors, rather they may have a hard time being experts in one area because they treat so many conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and more. Here is an article that details why these doctors are different and how to find one; http://migraine.com/blog/how-are-migraine-specialists-different/ and https://migraine.com/blog/really-find-headache-specialist/.

Try not to lose hope! There are over 100 medications and supplements that can be used to treat migraine disease. It may feel as if you’ve tried everything out there, but that really may not be the case. When you get a chance take a look at this information; https://migraine.com/blog/migraine-preventives-start/.

I hope this helps. Let me know what you think,
    Nancy
