I'm experiencing different symptoms, what should I do?

I have suffered with migraines since I was 11 years old. Now being 28, I have tried so many things. But I have never had this go on before. I’ve had a migraine for a week solid. Two doctors for shots of steroids, promethazine and toradol. All not helping at all. My whole body feels different this time. All my muscles hurt, of course the migraine it’s self, constant nausea, diarrhea and stomach cramps and stiff neck. Fever that comes and goes and just feeling very ill. It’s almost like I have the flu but I know that’s not what this is. I’m really wondering if it may be like meningitis or something! I’m just not sure what to do. I’ve been twice this week and received meds. I hate going to the emergency room as I always feel like they treat me like a drug seeker. Even though I see a neurologist, and I never go in and ask for pain medicine. Nothing is kicking this and I’m at a loss. My whole life is suffering from these attacks. This attack is so different and I just don’t know what to do.

  1. I would get to Emerg ASAP. Don’t ask for meds, just tell them your symptoms and they will do the tests. Let them know you do have migraines. Get them to talk to your neurologist. Then book an appointment with your neurologist.

I know you don’t like going to the ER but this sounds like you need to.

    1. I have a prescription for amerge and have take them this week I just keep praying it goes away!!

  2. I've had similar - a migraine that wouldn't go away for over 3 days. Finally I couldn't even get out of bed so I called an ambulance. Diagnosis - meningitis! Very serious and needed urgent medical treatment. Go back to the ER and ask them to test you ASAP. At least rule it out.

    1. Hi shakestitus,

I hope you are feeling better by now. Have you had a chance to discuss these new symptoms? It's always a good idea to talk to the doctor when we have new and/or different symptoms.

Please let us know how you are!
      Nancy
