Salt induced migraine

I’ve been a migraine sufferer since I was 16. I just turned 71 and now find that any amount of salt/sodium can cause a migraine. While Imirex relieves the headache, I’m taking way too much. I’m struggling with this as I can’t seem to determine how much salt/sodium is too much and pushes me over the top into a migraine. Sometimes I’m able to eat a little bit and then sometimes not. Eating out is a nightmare. Are there other medicines out there that release migraines without the side effects of imitrex? BTW I live in the middle of nowhere with a small clinic nearby. The closest neurologist is five 1/2 hours (each way) away. Thanks for any help.
