Migraines

I have terrible migraines, My Doctor has me on injectable toradol which does nothing, Now he has me on Percocet, that does nothing, I had a five day migraine which I just got over, I wanted to go to the emergency room for a shot but could not afford the 65.00 co pay. Can anyone recommend some type of other drug for when it really gets severe. I take Excedrin migraine first, then asprin, then Tylenol, then motrin, before I try a narcotic….Help!

    Missy3600,
I have a couple questions to see if I can think of other meds you may want to talk to your doctor about.

Do you take any daily medications to prevent the Migraines?
Have you tried any other abortive drugs like Imitrex, Frova, Zomig, Maxalt (all are triptans).

Have you ever been on DHE? It’s in a class of drugs called ergotamines. Triptans used to be helpful, but eventually stopped working for me and now DHE is my rescue drug. It’s also an injectable.

It’s good that you aren’t using Percoset as the first line of defense. Too much usage can cause medication overuse headache and it has serious potential for addiction. I take it too, but make sure to limit the usage.

Also, if you have trouble paying for meds, here’s a link to a page that has a few coupons. http://migraine.com/offer-center/
