My Migraine Story
Last updated: October 2012
Well, I first started experiencing migraines when I was about 7-8 years old. i didn't get another one til I was 13 & have consistently suffered from migraines since I was 13. They started getting worse once I got into high school. My migraines have lasted up to about 3 1/2 days. sometimes they start w/ a slight throbbing in either of my temples, or w/ a crick in my neck that gets worse, even w/ medication. Fast forward to my life today, and my migraines get so bad that i literally cannot eat anything for about 36 hours because I am so sick from the pain that I am physically nauseous. Sometimes, if I lay in a cool bath with the lights off, the pain will lessen & I can actually take more medication for the pain. I currently take Imitrex, 25 mgs , but that doesn't always stop the pain & I end up taking more Imitrex later on. I track all of my migraine activity w/ the iHeadache app on my iPod. I really hate having migraines because it interrupts my life & my studies (currently studying Criminology-Law Enforcement & going to nursing school in the spring in LA). I need to get these migraines under control & take back my life.
Do you have a migraine toolbox for when an attack hits?
