My story

I have migraines 21 days a month. I have them with aura, lightheaded, confusion impossible to concentrate or carry conversations. Throw up body doesn’t want to function properly. Stand up hold onto wall the room spinning. My triggers are heat, bright lights and car headlights, cold, weather changes , and loud noises. Have tried lot of meds none working. My neurologist now wants me to try botox. Any thoughts? I just want them to stop.

Your migraines sound like mine in frequency and many of the symptoms. I started botox in August 2017. First round helped. From 21 days per month down to 5. insurance only pays for every twelve weeks and by week 10, my old pattern returned . Despite the botox at twelve weeks, in October, that pattern hasn’t changed. I am looking forward to my third injections in January. Hoping that will work like the first round. Sorry for your pain and I understand the frustration.

    Hi Soniashu,

Thank you for sharing your story with us. I understand how frustrating chronic migraine is – I’m sorry you are experiencing this. Great job on identifying your triggers. Weather changes can be difficult to manage, let me share some information on this with you; https://migraine.com/living-migraine/triggered-by-weather-this-medication-may-help/.

Botox has been very helpful for me. I started it in August 2016 and get injections every 12 weeks. While Botox is not a cure, it has reduced my attacks and my abortive medications seem to work better.

Allergan, the makers of Botox offer a savings program than many have found invaluable. Here is the link; https://www.botoxchronicmigraine.com/botox-chronic-migraine-savings-card.|

Best of luck and let us know what you decide,
    Nancy
