Susan Migraine Story

Last updated: June 2022

I want to thank Teri Robert for all of the information and feedback I've been able to glean from her in the past few months. I'm not sure how I found you in the first place, Teri, but I'm glad I did!

Anyway, I started having migraines when I was about 5 years old. It wasn't until I was an adult that I finally associated the nightmares I started having with my auras. I would wake up to scary faces floating in the dark above my bed and run to my parents room for comfort. Then would come the pain and the vomiting. I had many tests done and I was so proud of my little round band aids where I had blood drawn. The nurse would always put a little smiley face on it. When the doctors ruled out anything abnormal, they said "she's having migraines, she may or may not outgrow them". I never have.

It's wonderful to have a forum and a support group, to know that I'm not the only one that suffers with this disease. I'm thankful for the research that continues to be done. And I'm thankful that unlike when I was growing up, I have alternatives to suffering through the horrible symptoms and pain.

God bless all of you,

Susan S.
