Aura Migraine again, reading comprehension

I have had migraines since about 2003, they got better when I went through menopause. I had 2 bad months from May-June this year, otherwise hardly ever anymore. I had one tonight again, same vision disruption, very little pain but I was reading and wasn't able to understand the words, I had to slowly sound them out, simple words. It did go away and I could read again, it probably lasted about 20-30 min.
This only happened to me one time and that was this past June. I do experience confusion when I get these headaches, but I haven't noticed reading comprehension lose before, not sure if I just wasn't reading anything before when I had one and didn't notice.
I have been under a lot of stress in the last month, and was very stressed when I had this last episode. Like I say I have had slight confusion previous, but don't think I couldn't read words.

  1. Hi Pam,

Sorry to hear that you're having this trouble. It may comfort you to know that I have heard of this phenomena before. Actually, a friend I know experiences this sometimes with her migraines. However, I would always encourage you to let your doctor know of any new symptoms. Our migraines can often change and it's good to let our physicians know.

Wishing you the best, and keep us updated.
