Triggers

carsickness as trigger

  • By Anonymous

    Hello everyone!

I was reading about triggers on this website and I noticed that carsicknes isn’t mentioned. Therefore I wanted to start this topic because my personal experience is that I get migraine after sitting in a car or during a long travel.
I know it sounds more like carsickness, but as a patient with chronic migraine it feels exactly the same as an attack without being in a car. I don’t have it all the time, but when I need to sit in a car for more than 20 minutes I’m usually feeling some pressure in my head en feel nauseous. I know this probably is just carsickness when I’m in the car, but when I get out of the car I’m starting to get the symptoms of my chronic migraine.

So I’m just curious if there’s anyone with the same experience of carsickness as a trigger?

    xoxo

    Hi Sarah,

Thank you for starting this topic. There are people who find riding in a car problematic. In fact we have information on this topic written by Teri; https://migraine.com/blog/driving-migraine-trigger/.

I don’t experience this, but know others who do and hopefully they will be along shortly to lend a hand with their experiences.

    Hi Nancy,

Thanks for giving me the link! When I was searching I couldn’t find anything about carsickness so I probably used the wrong keywords or something. 😉
