Chiropractor

Has anyone experienced relief from migraines with auras from visiting a chiropractor? My daughter just started seeing one and has had some relief. Just curious if anyone else has had a positive experience with this type of treatment and was it a life-long treatment program.

  1. Hi pkwilliamson,

I'm sorry to hear your daughter is experiencing migraine attacks. It's awful to see our children (no matter what age) in pain. I'm happy to hear she is getting some relief. I can say most of the migraine experts we work with are not thrilled with neck manipulation, but the lower back is OK.

I've seen a chiropractor for my lower back, but seem to do better with physical therapy. Hopefully others will be along shortly to share their experiences with you.

Has your daughter been able to identify any of her migraine triggers? Trigger identification and management is an important part of a migraine management plan. If we can avoid some of the triggers we can, we may be able to reudce our migraine attack frequency. Migraine triggers include, but are not limited to irregular sleeping patterns, certain foods, skipping meals, dehydration, hormonal fluctuations, odors, lights, changes in the barometric pressure, and many others. One of the best ways to figure out our triggers (and any patterns our migraine attacks have) is to keep a detailed migraine diary for a few months. When you get a chance take a look at this information on how to keep a migraine diary; https://migraine.com/blog/keeping-migraine-diary-basics/.

    I hope this helps,
    Nancy
