chronic migraine after child birth

I had my second child a month ago. A week before he was born I started getting migraines. I have been a migraine sufferer all my life.
Now my concern is that they have not stopped. How long may this "attack" last generally? Should I worry? I am getting anxiety attacks due to the migraine attacks. HELP. Any advice is appreciated!

  1. Any time we have a migraine attack that lasts more than 72 hours, we really need to get it checked out as it increases our risk for migrainous stroke. A long, unrelenting attack is called Status Migrainosus. Please call your doctor and insist on getting some help.

Please write back and let us know how it all turns out.

    1. The migraine has not been one attack, rather attacks every 2 to 4 days ( one attack with aura per day aprox.) Is this the same possible diagnostic?
I have gone to a neurologist which prescribed INDERAL for 2 months. Should I seek further help?
To be honest I believed that these attacks could.be caused by all the hormones being relieased after child birth.

      1. What you describe is different that Status Migrainosus. However, it's still troubling. It can take up to 90 days to determine if a preventive medicine is working. You're getting close to that time. It may be that the doctor will want to increase your dosage. Please do call the neurologist and tell him what is going on. You may be right that all the hormonal changes are triggering these attacks. That doesn't mean you have to suffer through them. Tell him what is happening and how it is interfering with your ability to function and caring for your baby. Don't accept that nothing can be done. You're just getting started and there are hundreds of options available.
