Cold nose

I've had migraines since I hit puberty and they have gotten worse since. I have been diagnosed with intractable chronic migraine without aura. While I do get aura it's usually less than once a month. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't wake up with a headache. On the rare occasions I don't have any kind of head pain, I'm so different that people have accused me of being high. Now I've gotten visual aura, sensitivity to high pitch noise or even some musical notes, nausea, waking up during the night due intense pain, sensitivity to certain odors, brain fog, irritability, occasional light headedness, tearing eyes on rare occasions and loss of appetite (even though I don't seem to lose any weight). Now I've heard of all these symptoms but does anyone else get a cold nose? It's not always just my nose sometimes it's my fingers and toes. I'm just curious, does anyone else gets this?

Dave

  1. Hi Turok,

Thank you for your question. YES! I often experience a cold nose, fingers and toes. There are a number of conditions that can be comorbid with migraine meaning, they can occur at the same time but are not caused by one another. Raynauds is one such condition; https://migraine.com/blog/migraine-comorbidities-raynauds-phenomenonsyndrome/.

Here is an article that has information on other conditions that can be comorbid with migraine; https://migraine.com/blog/what-is-a-comorbid-condition-a-bulleted-list-for-patients/.

    Does that help?

    1. Hi Dave.
Have you had any luck? I've had migraines for maybe 8 years, starting after the birth of my second child. They come and go and are usually without aura. I can function with them, so they are atypical. I often have a heartburn-like sensation in my chest or neck with them and Pepcid even helps them sometimes! Recently they have started to change and I have been having a cold nose with them and that seems to make it worse. I have had a headache basically straight for over 3 weeks and before that had them nearly every day anyway. Again, I can function but am just more irritable and can't function my best...also not as energetic or happy. I've also been nauseated with them.

      1. Hi brilaine2,

Thank you for sharing your journey with us - we're glad you're here!

I did want to mention when our migraine attack symptoms or patterns change, it's a good idea to let the doctor know so he can make sure everything checks out OK.

Wishing you a low pain day,
        Nancy

        1. YES! The tip of my nose gets super cold before and during migraine.
