Eyes won't focus a week after headache

I just got over a terrible migraine about a week ago and am having trouble with my eyes. Specifically, I am having trouble focusing, especially when reading on the computer. Has anyone else experienced this type of thing so long after a headache?

The headache itself lasted 16 days. I am 36, and this was only my second migraine since my early twenties. I am having trouble remembering what my symptoms were like way back then. But this headache was accompanied by visual and sensory aura about three days in. I have only had visual aura on one other occasion. It might be worth noting that I have chronic (non-migraine) headaches and have had one daily since the migraine retreated.

Thanks for any help.

  1. Dear astinespring,

While vision changes are part and parcel of migraine episodes for many of us, any prolonged changes in your health and senses are good cause to visit your doctor/migraine specialist. If your vision hasn't returned to normal yet, please consider calling your doctor today to schedule a visit. If it has returned to normal, make note of the details of the vision changes so you have a written record to refer to next time you have a doctor's appointment.

Good luck, and I hope you're seeing clearly now.

    Take care,
    Janet G.

    1. jmflann,

I'm so pleased to hear that lowering your dose helped you with your aura. Thanks for encouraging folks to get their eyes checked--it certainly can't hurt!

      Take care,
