Frightened to know end!!

Hello. Im a male and I have migraines with Aura since 2000. im 56 now and have had them on and off once a year maybe twice. sometimes only one every 5 years . I get the Aura first and then migrain. all though not bad headach wise. but what is happenning this week is I get an aura everyday now at about the same time for 4 days in a row now. they only last 20 min. or so. but when there done I feel so run down. Not tired, but just like i got hit by a bus. Im scared to death since I never had 4 days in a row of theses. its the zig zag colorful ones that move to the left or right until gone. is this a sign of something worst coming? I saw a doctor and he said since I did some heavy lifting that this is what caused it he thinks. he didnt seem to conserned. does anyone else ever had theses more then 4 days in a row? Im afraid to wake up tomorrow in fear I will get another one. oh and im also very very depressed for at least a half a day. by night time I feel ok. but today I felt like wacking myself. thats not like me at all. not that I would but if this continues I dont know if i can or wamt to live with it. HELP!!!

  1. Hello, I am new to this blog but am also at my wits end with some vertigo which I will ask for assistance on in another forum. I have had migraines since I was 5 and I am 37 so I am a veteran. Sometimes I have the aura and sometimes I don't. It is always awful though, vision goes in and out, it gets dim, zig zag lines and shadows on things that shouldn't have shadows, sparkly fairy dust in the air, Even small sounds sound like they are inside your head in an amplifier, lipes go numb, face twitches, limbs feel weak and I forget my words or what I was doing. You seem like you do not have the migraines often but you should be on a preventative. If you do not suffer from low blood pressure they usually try propanolol as it has few side effects. The feeling to wack yourself is not uncommon and you should really try to lighten or soften this idea the best you can. It is the fear of what might be that is so intense and not so much of what is actually happening. Just think of it as neurological misfire and you just have to wait until its done. As my mother always said...sometimes you gotta grab the bull by the horns and go for a ride whether you want to or not. Just start slow on your path to finding a treatment that works for you and be easy on yourself and be easy about your your life as you try to figure it out. With your age I would get a scan ( CT or MRI to rule out TiA or stroke since you mentioned some weakness. I too get weakness with migraines. Migraines can change over time as well and it may be that you are simply having some additional symptoms. Keep your chin up! No wacking!!

    1. Hi Magic8161,

Welcome to the Migraine.com discussion forum - we're glad you're here!

I'm sorry you are experiencing new symptoms, but happy to hear you've spoken with your doctor. Having said that, if this aura continues it should be investigated more thoroughly.

Please keep us posted on how you are doing and as lavenderwolf said, "No wacking!"
      .
