is it migraine related

My daughter suffers from terrible migraines since a small child. She is 24 and suffers from swelling of feet( they look as big as a football) and legs swelling, but sometimes her face will swell where you can't see her eyes. Her cardiologist thinks a stint in her legs may be necessary, but thinks she is so young. She's bedridden a lot because of her severe migraines. Her neurologist says its just another of the side effects of her migraines. When she was young her toenails would fall off for no reason. There is no changes in her household, chemicals, soaps, etc. They occur while she is in bed. She use to get large bruise like marks on her cheeks, that drove me nuts. Does anyone else get weird medical problems with their migraines?

  1. Hi Vicki,

Thank you for your post. So sorry to hear about your daughter's experiences with migraines. It must be so frustrating to not have answers as to why she presents with her specific symptoms. We always suggest here at Migraine.com visiting a doctor, more specifically a migraine specialist. It sounds like you have been seeing doctors, which is so great to hear. In case you have not visited with a migraine specialist, here is a link to information on them and some referrals - https://migraine.com/blog/how-are-migraine-specialists-different/, https://migraine.com/blog/looking-for-a-migraine-specialist/. Also, regarding your question about symptoms, here is a link which takes you to articles describing various symptoms - https://migraine.com/blog/understanding-migraine-symptoms/, https://migraine.com/blog/i-had-no-idea-that-was-a-symptom/, https://migraine.com/migraine-symptoms/. The latter two articles describe puffy eyelids and swollen face as symptoms associated with chronic migraine. I hope you find this helpful! If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to reach out. We love hearing from you!

    Warmly,

    Meaghan (Migraine.com Team)
