Job search concerns

  • By spockpants

I have a been a chronic migraine sufferer for ten years. I recently came to the conclusion that working full time in the stressful field of social work is not in the cards for. However, I do want to work part-time in my field. I want to be transparent about the fact that I have a chronic medical condition when interviewing, especially since employers have been curious as to why I am applying for jobs I am overqualified for 🙂 How have people handled this? Do we have any legal rights in this regard? Thanks so much!

    Hi spockpants,

Thank you for reaching out to us with this difficult question. I understand how you feel. Before I applied for SSDI, I worked as a receptionist in a vet’s office which I was overqualified. It took about six weeks to discover I was unable to work due to migraine disease and other chronic pain issues.

Hopefully others will be along shortly to share their experiences with you.

    Nancy
