Just started taking feverfew

Hello there,

I am a 22 year old male, been suffering from migraines since i was 17. Had no idea what they were until 2 years ago, as they got really bad. I dont know what started it and where it came from but it is absolutely ruining my life. Have to leave work early alot of the time, cant go out with my friends. Its just a horrible disease. After all the whining and stuff I decided to do something about it. I try not to take prescription medications, so I decided to go with feverfew. I been taking it for 8 days now. I take Natures way Feverfew leaves, 1 pill contains 250 mg. On day 4, I got alot of anxiety , and i felt very scared. Had a weird pain in my stomach, and my head was throbbing. Day 5,6, and 7 were fine, felt good. but on day 8, which is today. Right after I ate i took the feverfew. 10 mins later, my mouth got really dry, I felt like puking and my head was throbbing. Had to leave work .

If there is anybody out there that has taken feverfew please let me know if you experienced the same or similar effects. I need these migraines out of my life.

  1. Hi Sikandar,

Have you had a chance to speak with your doctor about these symptoms? That may be one of the first things you do. Many people with migraine have good results when they take dietary supplements like feverfew, magnesium, vitamin B6, Coenzyme Q10, and others. As with any medication and/or 'natural' or dietary supplements we may experience potential side effects. Many people think because supplements are listed as 'natural' they don't have any side effects, but that's not the case. These supplements act as drugs in our body and may interact with other medications we take or conditions we have. That's why it's always a good idea to have a discussion with our doctor before we start new medication and/or supplements. Let me share information on this with you; https://migraine.com/blog/natural-migraine-remedies/ and here is information on supplements; https://migraine.com/migraine-treatment/natural-remedies/.

There are many other forms of feverfew that may workout better for you. Feverfew can be found in tablets, capsules, powder, soft gels, chewable tablets and others. You can read more about feverfew here; https://migraine.com/migraine-treatment/natural-remedies/feverfew/.

Migraine is thought to be a neurological genetic disease. The most current theories, backed by research, show it to be caused by genetics and a cascade of events that impact overly excitable neurons in our brains. When our overly sensitive brains are triggered by certain stimuli such as changes in the weather, hormones, dehydration, sleep issues, and certain foods, and others, a Migraine may occur. Are there family members who may have had what they thought were very bad headaches, 'sinus headaches', sick headaches or stayed in a dark room while they had them? This could be an indication they may have had migraine. Take a look at this article for more information; https://migraine.com/blog/new-research-reveals-genetic-clues-to-migraine-without-aura/.

    Hand in there,
    Nancy
