Lamictal and Topamax Combo?

I've been in Status Migraine for 78 days. Typical pain level is a 7 day to 8 each day. My neurologist started me on a slow titration of lamictal (currently on 50mg) to add to the 225 of topamax that I'm on. It's actually working, pain level is down to a five and side effects aren't that bad.
Has anyone else had an experience with this combo?
Inquiring minds 😀
Thanks!
Melly

  1. Hi Melly62,

I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. Let me see what I can do to help.

Having extended migraine pain is exhausting, frustrating and downright nasty. There are things our doctors can do to help end difficult migraine cycles. Many times a steroid dose pack or IV medications can be used to break a migraine cycle. These two links have helpful information on how to deal with intractable migraine; https://migraine.com/blog/what-happens-when-all-medication-fails-for-intractable-chronic-migraines/ and https://migraine.com/blog/migraine-treatment-experiences-iv-therapy-intractable-migraine/.

I've not taken these at the same time, but currently take Lamictal. Both these medications can be used for migraine prevention and I'm happy to hear you are seeing a reduction in your migraine frequency and severity.

Keep us posted on your progress,

    Nancy
