Looking for a Good Pillow

  • By Dana

    As many of us know, migraines and neck pain go hand and hand. I have been on the everlasting search for a good pillow and have spent a good fortune (sorry kids no college for you…mommy needs a pillow) trying to find one. Does anyone have one they swear by? “My Pillow” users need not reply 😤. Thanks in advance 🙏.

    Hi Dana,

    The search is always on for a great pillow. I’m currently using a tempurpedic pillow. It took a few nights to get used to, but I’m very happy with it. It’s not the one with the neck thing – I don’t know what
    it’s called!!

    I’m sure others will be along shortly to share their pillow journey with you.

      Thanks Nancy,
      It’s like the never ending search for the perfect pair of jeans! I don’t know about you, but I haven’t found those either 🤣🤣

    The only pillows that work for me are small pillows designed for travel or decoration. All standard bed sized pillows cause me neck pain. I have three on my bed one 14inx6in and down filled for when I am on my back. Another the same size and cotton filled for side sleeping and an even smaller one (cotton filled) that I do travel with or end up grabbing during the night that works for any sleeping position.

    Once I figured out that tiny pillows work for me I question why are pillows so big? I just need to cushion my head. Which it not 2ftx1ft in size. Lol

      @glassmind,
      Thanks! You know, now that I think about it, I do like my sofa throw pillows when I’m riding a migraine out on the couch…. but never thought about it working as a bed pillow for my neck. I’m going to try it tonight! And here I am spending soooo much money on fancy “cervical” pillows. Thanks so much!

    Dana,

    Thanks. It’s nice when I can think. Lol. I always know a migraine is bearing down when cognition and speech flee.

    Let us know if the couch pillows work for you.

    Hi @danadibs1979!
    I couldn’t agree more with you…the pillow is everything, as any pressure on the head/neck during an episode is painful at best…and total torture at worse! The only ones I have found to help are two totally different types: one is a small travel pillow from Brookstone that has the malleable buckwheat hull inside and the outside is a soft cottony plush (removable cover). That one is GREAT because it will gently conform to where you want it. The other pillow is regular size and from Bed Bath & Beyond. It is hypoallergenic and faux down so extremely soft and squishy as well. I wish I had the names of each available to share, but I don’t right now. Hope these help, and good luck! 🙂

      @danadibs1979,

      Got it! The two pillows:
      1. Indulgence by Isotonic (sold at Bed, Bath & Beyond)
      2. The NAP collection from Brookstone (I have the small pillow and blanket, it’s this ultra soft cottony plush)
      I just looked it up for you and it’s out of stock it says…
      Nap Pillow
      Currently Out Of Stock
      Product Number: 324385p
      I saw it for sale online but can’t guarantee it’s the same Brookstone one.
      Good luck…I hope these help. 🙂
