Looking for a great migraine specialist in NC

I am in NC and looking for a a very good neuro as mine is at a lose. I have chronic migraines and I have tried every form of pills you can for migraines.

  1. Hi 1q7ecmy,

Thank you for your question - let me see what information I can give you that may help.

You may want to see a true migraine expert rather than a neurologist, and here's why - neurologists may be fine doctors but have difficult time being experts in one area. This is because they treat so many different conditions like multiple sclerosis, stroke, epilepsy and others. Migraine/headache disorder specialists are just that, experts in one area - migraine and headache - and are board certified in headache medicine whereas all neurologists are not. And, being certified in neurology is different than being certified headache medicine. It's also important to note that all neurologists are NOT migraine/headache disorder specialists even though they may claim to be and all migraine/headache disorder specialists are not neurologists. Let me give you some information on how migraine specialists are different; https://migraine.com/blog/how-are-migraine-specialists-different/. To help you find a migraine specialist, take a look at this link; https://migraine.com/blog/looking-for-a-migraine-specialist/. There are over 10 migraine and headache experts in NC, by the way!!

It may feel as if you have tried every medication out there for migraine, but that is really hard to do - don't lose hope! There are over 100 medications that can be used for migraine prevention and it would take over 25 years to try all of them in the proper manner and at the correct dose. Let me share information with you on migraine prevention you can discuss with the; https://migraine.com/blog/migraine-preventives-start/.

Good luck and let us know how you make out,
    Nancy

    1. I am not sure where you live in nc,but I see a wonderful neurologist named Dr. Charles Gordon who is a migraine specialist. He is in Charlotte, NC. His assistant Julie Gossett is also great. Both myself and my daughter see him for chronic migraines.I have had migraines since age five and I will be forty this year. I have seen a lot of doctors and he is the best, so good that I carry a stack of his business cards with me at all times to hand out. I hope you can get to Charlotte to see him.
