50 Years & Older Living With Migraine

“Migraine” eyeglasses

  • By GeeLo

I’m seeing ads for the red-lens eyeglasses that are supposed to help with migraines by filtering certain light spectrums. Has anyone had success with these glasses, or know anything about them?

    HI GeeLo,

Thank you for your question and being here with us!

I’ve heard very good things about TheraSpecs and in fact have a pair of their outdoor sunglasses and love them. A number of my colleagues have glasses from them as well and are very happy. You can read more about TheraSpecs here; https://migraine.com/sponsored/sponsored-proven-migraine-relief-with-new-theraspecs-glasses/.

Another company is Axon Optics, however I have no personal experience with them. Here is information on this company: https://migraine.com/sponsored/are-you-ignoring-one-of-the-top-migraine-triggers/.

Good luck and please let me know which one you picked!

There specs and AxonOptics both offer great service! Pricey!!
Yes, they ease photophobia. As a preventative? don’t know but I choose to wear them often hoping they are preventing a few. Help with devices(tolerating screen) and tv watching. Wear to shop often . Blocking those florescent bulbs.

I bought a pair, but they gave me a migraine. I have no idea why.

    Hi Kkyd,

I’m sorry to hear that. I wonder if it wasn’t the glasses, rather a migraine attack was on the way regardless?

    Just a thought!

I’ve used Theraspecs sunglasses for years and love them. I’m planning to get a pair of the indoor glasses (lighter tint) as well and hope they’ll help when I have to spend time on florescent lighting.

    Hi Suzik,

Thank you for sharing that with us. I have the sunglasses too, and love them.

If you get the indoor glasses, let me know how you make out with them!

I am using GUNNAR glasses at work, they help to eliminate digital eye strain and block blue light. They really help being on a computer all day long. I am also using Somni Light Fl-41 Light Sensitivity Glasses. They are rose colored and are my go to when a migraine kicks in. Good luck and hope you find something that works for you.

I tried TheraSpecs and didn’t like the tint. I bought the AxonoOptics and love them. I worked in a very “lit up” office with no way to turn down it down (Fluorescent lights), these helped me tremendously when I didn’t have a migraine and when I did.

I have a pair of prescription fl 41 tinted glasses and they ate almost too dark to use. My favorites are clip on to glasses fl 41 filters bought on amazon for 30 bucks. They are a game changer and reduce tremendously the bouncing around in the glasses feeling.
