Migraine or brain tumor..?

Lately my migraines have been lasting 3-4 days. They are not responding at all to abortive medications, just lots of quiet time and days off from work. This started happening about 3 months ago (I've had migraine for 1.5 years). I had an MRI with contrast 1.5 years ago and it was normal, but now I'm wondering if I should get another one. My neurologist says he doesn't think so, but maybe just for my own piece of mind?

  1. Hi MsMille,

Please forgive me for not getting back to you after all this time. I'm so very sorry. It's been two months now, so I wonder how things are going?

I'm sorry the migraines are lasting so long. May I ask if you take something every day to relieve your pain? One problem we can run into when all we want to do is end the pain is something called medication overuse headache. This may occur if we take certain migraine medications, and/or pain relievers, either over-the-counter or prescription more than two to three days a week. It can really put us in a worse position because if we have moh, our migraines are harder or near impossible to treat. Take a look at this information on moh when you get a chance; https://migraine.com/blog/help-how-can-i-not-overuse-migraine-medications/.

Our migraine patterns can change over time and it is always a good idea to discuss these changes with your doctor. If he doesn't see the need, but you really want more information, discuss it with him and again and tell you how concerned you are. I find an honest conversation with doctors always works out best in the long run.

Please let us know how you are doing, and I promise it won't take so long to respond to you!

    Nancy
