Migraine Specialist in Milwaukee, WI or Chicago, IL?

Hi all,

I'm 19 and have been suffering from migraines for the past 4 years or so with increasing severity. When I first started getting migraines, I could self medicate with excedrin, a dark room, and an ice pack, but that just doesn't work anymore. I've been working with my primary care physician who prescribed me Imitrex which takes care of the migraine but makes me feel like I am dying. With the Imitrex not working, my physician says it's time to see a specialist.

Can anyone recommend a specialist in the Midwest? ( I live in Kenosha, WI, so anyone in Milwaukee, WI or Chicago, IL counts as close?)

Thank you so very much.

  1. I see Dr. Traci Purath in Greenfield (right by South Ridge mall). I definitely recommend her based on my experience.

    1. I second Dr. Traci! I just switched to her and she is SO understanding. I travel about an hour to her Burlington office, which is softly lit, no smells... So different from all the big corporate offices I've been through!

      1. I went to the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago. Dr. Merle Diamond, she is amazing! Her Father was the founder of the Clinic. It is known world wide. I live in the Pacific Northwest and traveled thousands of miles to be treated by them.
They also have an inpatient program in St. Joseph's Hospital the she put me in for 9 days. I was in a monster Rebound when I got there. They have a whole floor of the hospital dedicated to just migrainers just from the Diamond headache clinic. They saved me! Literally

        Good Luck and God Bless!
