MS or Migraine ?

This month I lost feeling and strength in my left arm and left leg. I made two trips to the ER thinking I might be having a stroke. ( I am in my 60s). Very fearful of MS also. After 3 MRI test as well as CT scan. No visible signs of MS.......so they say.
I am getting PT for two pinched nerves and chiropractor adjustments. Funny thing. Everyday for the past 3 weeks I've had Aura for about 10 minutes. Included in my tingling and numbness is tingly face and wooden mouth when I speak. A friend of mine had certain migraine symptoms years ago that sounded like what I am going through. Thank goodness I don't have the migraine pain anymore and only the aura.
Any thoughts from you good people? Thanks in advance.
Derek

  1. 3 days and no response? forget it!

    1. Hi painter, just wondering how you are getting on?

  2. Hi Painter,

I'm sorry for the delayed response. Let me see what information I can give you that may help.
Numbness and tingling may be symptoms of a migraine attack. I'm glad you went and had it checked out. If you haven't seen your doctor (not the ER doctor) for a follow up I would encourage you to do so.

You can read about migraine with aura symptoms here; https://migraine.com/?s=migraine+with+aura&submit=Go.

Will you let me know how you are doing?
    Nancy

    1. Thanks Nancy: My PT can't explain the aura, but is almost certain my neck is causing everything. I understand that a pinched nerve or radiculopathy can actually cause migraines. I appreciate the link very much.

      1. Hi Derek,

Thanks for getting back to me. I also have neck issues with my migraine attacks. There is a type of headache disorder called cervicogenic headache which is a headache that stem from a problem in the neck. You can read more about that here; https://migraine.com/?s=cervicogenic+headche&submit=Go.

Let me know if that helps,
        Nancy
