Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy Injections

Has anyone tried the Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy Injections, also known as, PRP or Prolotherapy? I would be interested to know if your results were successful and if the cost is prohibitive. Thank you.

  1. Hi Not-Again,

I've not tried this and don't know anyone who has. I also looked for research information on this and was unable to find any. Hopefully others will be along soon and share their experiences with you.

    1. I just had PRP done Monday on my neck and occipitals as both are factors in my migraines. I've pursued other treatments,PT etc to address my neck and RF and other things to address my occipital neuralgia but nothing has helped. The PRP was not fun and migraines have been higher since but I expected that and it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I'm really sore also but also expected that. He said it could take 2-3 treatments. Prolotherapy is less expensive but can take more treatments. My insurance doesn't cover either and since it was PRP and on 2 areas under a flouriscope (Xray) it was $900. I've had 2 1/2 years of 24/7 pain so if it works it will be worth it. Allison

      1. Not Again I don't know if you check back but I wanted to come back and update. I had 2 treatments of PRP on my neck and occipitals and do feel like they helped. Nothing I've tried has been THE thing because my migraines are multi factorial, I have multiple triggers. But I no longer have the ones that start at the back of my head/neck and move up and over to my eye. My neck just recently started to get sore at times again but nothing like it was and not enough to trigger anything. At least I know I can repeat this. My PT and massage therapist both could tell a big difference after it was done, so it wasn't just my perception. Headache intensity and frequency decreased also. I just still have one most of the time...

        1. I’ve had the PRP done in my cervical refused to let them do it in my occipital but since the PRP the headaches have gotten worse and the pain hasn’t went away none and the Doctor told me I have to get a artificial disc in my cervical since the PRP didn’t work and the disc is causing me throat issues as far as super swelling and unable to breathe at times. Have anybody had this ???
