question

I am new to the forum. I'm finding my headaches based on symptoms may be migraines. I have been documenting via an app on my phone, when they start and end, severity, symptoms, possible triggers, and meds(OTC obviously), they do have a section to include disability but not much for me to put in there so I don't typically use it. So, my question is did you have to spend a fortune(I'm unemployed, uninsured) on finding out if you in fact had migraines? Obviously, I'm considering a doctor but if they are just going to run a whole bunch tests that will total thousands of dollars that I can not afford...I guess I will just suffer through as miserable as that has been at least until I have a job and insurance.

  1. Hi Angelmel81,

Thank you for your post. It is wonderful to hear you are tracking your migraine attacks. I do hope you find that helpful so you may weed out various triggers and hopefully find effective treatments. Sorry to hear you do not have insurance, must be frustrating, as I know it can be somewhat of a barrier to treatment. However, the following article discusses this and provides information on various ways to access treatment without insurance - https://migraine.com/blog/no-insurance-you-can-still-take-care-of-your-migraine-disease/. Furthermore, the following articles provide an overview of insurance and ways to obtain insurance - https://migraine.com/migraine-health-insurance/. These articles discuss various treatment options, including natural methods, which you may find helpful - https://migraine.com/migraine-treatment/, https://migraine.com/migraine-treatment/natural-remedies/. I hope you find all this helpful. If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to reach out. We love hearing from you! Wishing you a lovely day.

    Warmly,

    1. How long should I have my symptoms etc tracked before I see a doctor? That is assuming I either get a job with insurance or find a decent free clinic. I was thinking 3 months? maybe 6? I mean I do want it to be as thorough as possible. Although I'm not sure how long I can handle suffering through...I'm thinking I could last 3 months. 6 would be pushing it.
