Red face symptom

Hi,
I'm new to the forum, I wonder if you could help me?
I have experienced migraines previously - headache, sickness, half blurred vision and had two migraines in the past month probably due to increased stress.
4 days ago I had a strange 'reaction' where my head/face went bright red, hot, tight chest, veins sticking out in neck and face. I developed a dull headache and felt sick. This happened over about 15 minutes and redness lasted about 2 hours. I was taken to hospital and checked for anaphylactic shock but told not. Doctor suggested vasovagal episode or possible food allergy (I do have food allergy) but wasn't sure.

I had just eaten an allergy trigger and also eaten chilli pepper and an alcohol shot.

I have experienced exactly the same thing about 3 years ago.

I now have brain fog still, 4 days later and this led me to this website. I started wondering if it was some kind of migraine.

Has anyone heard of bright red face and neck and pressure build up in head as a migraine symptom?
Thank you so much!

  1. Hello Dragonflyby and welcome to the Migraine.com community! I hear how much you have been struggling with migraine symptoms recently. While we cannot offer medical advice over the internet (for your safety!) I can say that facial swelling is a migraine symptom that some people in the community do experience. While you wait for others to chime in and share their experiences with you, I thought these articles might be of interest to you:

    1. Thanks for your quick reply Allyson, I really appreciate it!
The articles you shared are helpful, I didn't have any swelling but interesting to see it can have such a wide range of symptoms.

      Thanks again

      1. Hi Dragonflyby,

        Welcome!!!

I did want to mention when we have new and/or different symptoms, it's important to let the doctor know so he/she can make sure everything checks out OK.

Wishing you a low pain day,
        Nancy
