Relapse

I haven’t been on in a long time, so hello again! I am having increases in both the frequency and intensity of migraines. I have an appt. to see my neuro in March to possibly adjust my meds. Is it common for them to just stop working after almost 2 years? (lamictal and a beta blocker). We had to decrease my beta-blocker over the summer since I was hypotensive (90/60), and I had a slight uptick but nothing like this. Since Dec I have been in 2 times for steroid infusions (and will have to do it again tomorrow if this one doesn’t break). The timing of this one is particularly bad since my daughter is supposed to swim tonight for the first time without her floater bubble, and I am not sure I can handle the smells and echos of the indoor pool. My husband will still take her, but I will probably have to miss it…stinks!

JAMIE – How did your day at the pool go?

I’m sorry your preventive meds have not been working for you lately. This does happen sometimes. Did your doctor consider changing your beta blocker to another in the same class? Sometimes making a change like that is helpful. Sometimes it really doesn’t help, but it is maybe worth a try.

Has your doctor discussed other preventives with you?
