Living with Migraine

The Internet and Migraines

  • By Georgina Crowe

    Hi I’m Gina,

    I run the blog http://www.beautifulbrightlight.blogspot.com.au

I have only just started running it this year, as a way for me to share what it’s like being a teenager suffering with migraines, as their wasn’t really anything around when I was first sick. I don’t just talk about migraines, but I also talk about beauty, life and other bits and bobs.

The internet has become such a massive thing in our lives now, and I think we can use the internet to make a positive change for people suffering with migraines.

What for you has been the best thing about having the internet and suffering with migraine disorder?

    Hope you’re well 🙂

Feel free to check it out,
    Gina

    Hi Gina,
Thanks for sharing your beautiful blog. I like the entry on talking openly about your migraines.
I think for me the most positive has come from internet forums, like this one, as a place to talk about my symptoms and how I am feeling and make sense of things. It alwaso helps me to not feel so alone.
Would love to hear from anyone else on the internet and migraines.
    Be well,
    Lisa

    Hi Gina and Lisa,

I love the blog, just spent 2 hours reading it. My Migraines aren’t as bad as yours, but also no piece of cake. I’ve had migraines every day for the last 5 days which always start around 2pm and make me feel all dizzy and confused due to the aura during lessons. I somehow stumble home after school and drop into bed. This is making me feel depressed and kind of helpless, but reading your blog entries and migraine stories here cheers me up because it is good to know that there are so many people out there who feel the same…

I’d love to get to know people of my age (I’m 19) to talk about migraines and all kinds of stuff.

    Best wishes,
    biango

edit: wait, why is my username 1plus99? I set it to biango! hm….

Thanks biango, thats so lovely, that you spent all that time reading my blog! Migraines change as you change, so my migraines I had over two years ago are different to the ones I have now. I know what it’s like to be so confused and disorientated, and the only thing I can suggest is keeping your fluids up and drinking water. It won’t make it go away but it’s just making sure that theres enough pressure in your blood, so oxygenated blood can make it to your brain and get rid of the dizziness.

I also know how helpless you feel when you can’t do anything but stumble around and try and string a few words together. And the only thing I can say to that is to not give in to it and just do what you can. And then when you’re not sick, get productive then.

I’d be more than happy to talk to people about migraines, theres an email link on my blog if you’d like to check it out,
      Gina
