I had seen Ubrelvy, a migraine abortive, advertised on TV for the past month or so. The ad said the medication worked for some people within an hour of ingestion, and for most people within two hours. It said the most common side effects are nausea and drowsiness, and the medication is non-addictive.
I have had migraines on and off since I was 10 years old. I'm now 62, and have been medically disabled due to migraines since 2017. I have tried every available abortive (mostly triptans), and they have all made me feel worse than the migraines. I've
also tried Botox, acupuncture, Emgality, Ajovy, medicinal marijuana gummies, MAOIs, seizure medications and even opiates. Nothing has worked for me.
I talked with my neurologist about Ubrelvy, and he was more than happy to let me try it. I picked up my prescription last Friday. My insurance company allows 10 tablets per month. The $258 co-payment is covered by my insurance because I qualify for their low income assistance program.
I have already used Ubrelvy on three different days (Saturday, Monday and today). I am thrilled to report that Ubrelvy improved my migraine from a 10 to a 3 on each of the three days, within 90 minutes, with absolutely no side effects. Usually migraines of that magnitude last two days, followed by a hangover day.
I am thrilled with Ubrelvy's performance so far. Obviously 10 tablets per month won't be enough to cover me for a full month, but I will have 10 migraines that will be manageable, which makes me so happy that happy isn't even close to a strong enough word to describe my feelings.
I highly recommend that all you migraineurs who are looking for a reliable abortive talk to your neurologist about Ubrelvy. It has been a godsend for me.
