Vanilla

I was told by a friend that she knew someone that drank Vanilla Milkshakes to get rid of her migraines, well I basically laughed this off figuring it was an excuse to have a milkshake and didn't give it another thought. After having a 5 day extremely bad bout of migraines where nothing was working, I told my husband I'm going to go get a Vanilla Milkshake, which I did and I was shocked that my migraine went away. I had had 5 days of non stop migraines and one milkshake cured it. So a googled it and this is what I learned.

For many people, vanilla may be the key for eliminating headaches. Vanilla extract contains eugenol, an essential oil that has antiseptic and analgesic properties and that helps unclog blood vessels

One headache sufferer reported that nothing had worked for his constant headaches of 40 years until he turned to vanilla. He drank a tablespoon of pure vanilla extract in 8 ounces of water before going to bed, and the next morning the usual headache pain was only half its normal intensity. Two days later it was gone completely and hasn't returned in over a year.

    1. I've been having migraines constantly since december 31st, and i noticed that coke vanilla made them worst. I don't have anything vanilla at my house to see if it will make it better. If i drink milk shakes it hasnt made they better, though i am on a medication so i can't tell if its a side affect or just my migraine.

Normal coke seems to spike the headache for a second (on a good day) then it settles and its fine.

I could try vanilla extract, but thats kind of like a lot of money for something as tall as my thumb (its stupidly expensive). So my dad isnt keen on buying any.

At least it has helped you! My doctor didnt try to find the cause yet for my migraines XD. im pretty dure there are multiple triggers at the moment XD.

      bye

      1. Hi ArtDemon,

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. We're not exactly sure the exact cause of migraine disease, but do know we can have flares, or attacks, triggered by certain foods, dehydration, irregular sleeping patterns, changes in the barometric pressure and many other things. When you get a moment you may want to check out this information on migraine triggers; https://migraine.com/living-migraine/community-feedback-daily-life-triggers/ and https://migraine.com/blog/stress-is-not-my-trigger-and-it-doesnt-have-to-be-yours-either/.

        I hope that helps!
