Verapamil 180 MG

Is anyone on Verapamil? My doctor put me on this for my migraines two months ago. It helps a little in that it has cut the occurrence of the migraines to maybe once or twice a month. BUT it has created a new problem . . . I am constipated - seriously constipated!! And nothing seems to help that. I have tried almost every thing over the counter without much success. I am about ready to stop taking the Verapamil. Just wondering if anyone had the same problem.

  1. Hi GoatLady,

    Thanks for your question - I'm sorry it's taken so long to respond to you. Let's me see what I can do to help.

    I'm happy to hear verapamil has been helping, that's terrific. I had a VERY difficult time with constipation while I was on opioid therapy a number of years ago. Nothing over the counter OR prescription was helpful. I found Yakima Fruit Paste for the Lynx Cancer Network to be a lifesaver, truly. I'll share the line for the recipe here;

    I would take about a tablespoon before bed each day and the results we amazing!

    Let me know what you think and good luck,
    Nancy

    1. Thank you! I am going to the grocery store tomorrow (and there is a health food store right next to it). I will give it a try.

      1. I started verapamil about 2 weeks ago. I started at 120mg, im currently on 160mg going up to 240mg. It seems to help so far especially with intensity of the headache and symptoms. I think 240 mg is considered an effective dose according to doctor. It definetly slows down bowel movements but i havent had other side effects yet.

        1. Sorry to answer your question i started taking a magnesium supplement which is helping with constipation. I bought it in a powder that mixes with water.
