Visual Aura - Inverting colors (on one object)

I've only been getting Visual Auras for the last 10-12 years. Prior to that, it was only olfactory (an odor that couldn't exit at the time) auras. I kind of wish I'd stuck to smells. Lewis Carol would feel right at home in my head.

Does anyone have a visual aura where they invert colors on only one or two objects in their visual field. I sometimes invert red and green. I'm not color blind, infact, I'm very sensitive to color variations. I never realized what was happening until I went through a traffic light that was red and stopped for a green one. Fortunately there was no traffic at the time. Scared myself. It only lasted a few minutes and I only realized it happened at all because I remembered the position the active lights should be at vs what they looked like to me. Now I try to pay attention to both the color and position JIC. Topamax resets my brain, and I haven't had it happen in over 6 months, but it used to be a weekly occurrence for the lights or a building wall (pale green barns are popular in my rural area) or the patch on the lawn to change colors on me. Usually it is only one object in a sea of every thing else staying normal. If it does happen I head home asap, because I've only 15-20 min before the pain will hit hard.

  1. Hi Kay Dee,

Thanks for you question - let's see what I can do to help.

Approximately 20-25% of people with migraine get aura. Thankfully, I don't fall into that group. I can tell you anytime we have new and/or different symptoms, it's important to discuss them with our doctor so he can make sure everything is OK.

I know that's not much, but maybe others will be along shortly to share their experiences with you.

    Nancy
