“Run” with me for migraine research

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

The second annual Runnin' for Research 5K takes place this Saturday, October 3rd in Morgantown, WV. The race starts at 9:30 a.m. So lace up those running shoes and meet me at Cheat Lake Park on Morgans Run Road in Morgantown. The trees are covered with the colors of fall. The cool, crisp autumn air will feel good on your face. If you're not up for a 5K run, you can choose to leisurely walk the 1 mile course instead. It will be a beautiful day for a walk in the park!

Okay, I'm not really running 5K this Saturday. That would be quite a challenge to get from Kansas to West Virginia. Plus, with my bad knee, I certainly can't run that far. Instead, I registered as a "virtual runner". This Saturday morning I will be knee-deep in cardboard boxes and packing tape, but my heart will be in West Virginia and my money will be well on its way to helping find a cure for migraine.

You can do this, too.

Check out the details at AHMA Runnin' for Research or visit their Facebook page. When you are ready, stop by the registration page to choose the option that best suits you. If you live nearby, please consider visiting the park on race day even if it's just to cheer on the runners. After all, they are running to benefit the search for a migraine cure.

Can't make it this weekend?

You'll have a second chance in just 2 weeks. On Saturday, October 17th, Runnin' for Research will be in Louisville, Kentucky. Get registered soon if that location is more convenient for you.

Would you give up one take-out meal for a migraine cure?

Last night my husband and I ordered take-out for dinner. The bill was over $30. Registration for the race is less than the cost of last night's meal. $25 might not sound like much, yet it adds up. Migraine.com has over 100,000 followers on Facebook. If just 2% of you decided to join the race, even as "virtual runners", we'd raise over $50,000 for migraine research. We really never know when that last donation is the one that leads to a cure. It might be mine. It could just as easily be yours.

Tell your friends and family about the race, too. You don't have to live close or even be able to run in order to raise money for migraine research. A small donation can do the running for you. Encourage your loved ones to join us as "virtual runners" in order to support the cause of migraine research.

Together we can beat migraine!
