Alternative treatment for chronic migraine

what has worked very well for me is a medicine called finasteride. It is an antiandrogenic (5-alpha reductase inhibitor, with decreased serum dihydrotestosterone levels) that is used in severe cases of obstructive prostatic symptoms. I take it as a 57-year-old man with prostate hyperplasia and elevated levels of prostate specific antigen in the pathological range. If any of you are in those same conditions of sex and increased prostate size, you can try it

  1. Hi! I have never heard of this medication. Does it help chronic migraine attacks as far as intensity and/or frequency? I'm glad it is working so well for you and that it sounds like it is helping with not just migraine which is great. Everyone responds differently to medication as we all have our own unique story. Members in this community can definitely relate to finding success with particular medications that also treats other conditions. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I wish you continued success and lessened/pain free days!

    1. I also take this prescription. But it was prescribed to deal with some of the side effects of my PCOS diagnosis. It helps decrease the shedding of hair from my head and decreases unwanted hair growth in places like my face and arms.
I hope it helps you! Does it do anything for migraines? Thanks for sharing - Amanda W (team member)
