Limbitrol (chlordiazepoxide/amitriptyline)

I've not been on Limbitrol, but use amitriptyline for many years.
Limbitrol contains both amitriptyline and a drug in the benzo category. Household benzo drug names are Valium, Clonazapem, Xanax. Those words can be scary, however they can cover a whole host of issues that help Migraineurs. I personally take Valium (along with amitriptyline) and use it as a muscle relaxer. It also helps depression, anxiety and nausea.

Drugs.com has some thorough information on Limbitrol. If you're still not comfortable, call the doctor's office again so you can understand why he prescribed it.

Thanks, Katie. I've taken Ativan, which is also in the benzo family. This was just one I'd never heard of and I couldn't find anything on its use for migraine. The warnings that come with it are a little scary too, but I'm at the point where I've tried all the "safe" drugs and it's a matter of weighing the risks with the benefits.

I've only been on it three days now, and I would never expect a preventive medication to have any effect so quickly, but the last two days have been the best two days I've had in months. My pain level hasn't gotten above a 2, when most of my days have been in the 5-7 range lately. (I'm afraid to even put that in writing; it might jinx me!) But maybe, after 11 years of a constant migraine, we finally have a winner! I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. Time will tell.
