What do you think is the most misunderstood part of living with migraine disease?

  1. Since I don't suffer from terrible headaches. I'd say people understanding how difficult the other migraine symptoms are to deal with are.

    1. I hope the past week was a little better for you, Gary. Pain can really wear you down. Having music and a strong faith are great for keeping a healthy perspective. Have you played guitar for many years? -Melissa, team member

    2. (For Gary) Nausea is sometimes harder to tolerate than the pain. Have you spoken to your doctor about this yet? It's generally a good idea to let them know if you start experiencing a new symptom, just in case.

We have a video about nausea with lots of good strategies in the comments, if you want to take a look:

There are also prescriptions you can try if it gets to be too much. Take good care of yourself. Sending gentle hugs to you! -Melissa, team member

  2. That a migraine isn't just a "normal" headache. I've had people tell me to just take Tylenol and get "over it" I'd like those people to have one, just one of my headaches, with all the nausea, pain and inability to open your eyes because the light hurts.

    1. They know nothing and do not deserve to make comments like that.

    2. I agree!!!

  3. The extreme traumatizing pain!
Lights hurt ! its real pain
Noise (even a little bit) is like stabbing my head
And above all the aura! No one understands, I have trembling legs, balance issues, trembling hands, n ppl think including my mom that I am just nervous, some say I run from work,or they'll say I am lazy.....
And now I even have started having vertigo, though it's not severe but it stops activities....

    1. I have Vertigo too. For two weeks now. I’m not getting much relief from the migraine either. Feels like someone stabbing me in the left eye and in my temples and forehead. I’m thinking of trying Aimovig, but not sure yet.

    2. Please see a smart doctor who handles problems like yours.
It would probably have to be a neurologist, but do it for you!
You sound young - If no one is supporting you, including your mom (mine did not support me either) you need to go ahead on your own and find a real doctor!
If you have no insurance or money then go to a public clinic and tell them (with conviction) that you are suffering with this and need help now.
      Good Luck.

  4. Worst is people just caring about how it inconveniences themselves and not understanding how hard it is to live with and overcome.

    1. Do not associate with people like that.
      Find people who understand!
