"Is anyone prescribed the Amiovig shot that is used every 28 days? I’m almost done with month four and I have noticed improvement but I still feel like I need to give it more time in order for my migraines to mostly if not completely go away. I am 21 years old and have dealt with migraines almost daily since I was 8. I am glad I am getting some relief but due to me being in and out of the hospital for my migraines and other health issues I deal with, I have gained a phobia to needles, and no I am not over exaggerating. I can sit down and be calm during a simple flu shot but this amiovig shot is no joke. It’s not even the needle that is the issue (when i put on an ice pack for a few minutes I don’t feel the needle) but when the medicine is actually entering my body and blood stream the pain I feel is seriously indescribable. My mom and I have tried taking the shots in different spots of my thigh and it continues to hurt so bad to the point where I have to let out a scream. By the time the medicine is finished coming out of the needle and the needle has been removed I don’t feel anymore pain. Has anyone else experienced this with amiovig??? And if so have y’all found any way to try to reduce the pain? Ive tried ice and (don’t judge) even getting drunk at home to help reduce my anxiety and to possibly help with pain but both of those did not work. Any suggestions would be helpful. "
