"Excited to start new treatments with my new neurologist!"

  1. , Welcome to the migraine.com community! We are glad you're here. Starting new treatments can be very exciting. Is this your first time working with a doctor for your migraine disease? Finding a headache specialist is very helpful in treating and managing migraine. Let us know how things go moving on. Also, I noticed you experience pain in your scalp and hair during an attack. Here is an article that speaks to that pain called allodynia. I hope you find it helpful. Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

  3. Thank you. I have been on here for a while, just not posted. I've had the monster in my head since I was around 10/11 years old, and I will be 65 in March. My primary MD had been prescribing my meds for quite a long time. Last visit with a neuro was in 2001. This past year the frequency and intensity had started ramping up after my son died. The past 5-6 months were back to the level I was having in early 2000s, and my new primary MD is not as educated on migraine management as previous ones. I feel so lucky to have found this Doctor - he was referred by a friend who goes to him for botox treatment, and I was so happy after my first visit with him!!! I am awaiting insurance authorization for Botox and SPG treatment, and have an appointment for MRI this Thursday since I have no updated imaging. He's also sending me in for a sleep study - this is the first dr to connect the dots with most of my healthcare issues and trying to help me find solutions!!! Now just crossing fingers he doesn't retire on me any time soon..... I used to be one of the moderators MANY years ago on the old about.com headache forum and try to keep up with new information and treatment options. I'm very glad we have such a supportive online community to help with our journey!!

  4. , It is awesome to have you with us here! I am very sorry to hear about your son's passing. I fully understand how that added stress can awaken the monster and fuel its appetite. I'm glad to hear you've found a doctor that is looking into the co-morbid conditions that can exist and feed migraine disease. I only have limited knowledge of SPG treatment. Are you in AZ? A sleep study is a good idea because many of us living with migraine also have sleep apnea. Getting a fresh set of MRI images is also a smart move. Is there a way your new doctor can access your old MRI imaging to make a comparison? Botox can be an effective treatment for managing migraine, and many find when it is part of a combination therapy regimen, they enhance each other. Please keep us posted on how you are doing moving forward! Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

  5. That's fantastic to hear! I hope that your relationship with your neurologist has been going swimmingly since this last update. That dynamic is so important. To feel heard, appreciated, and understood. How have you been feeling as of late? Has your medication helped take the edge off or provide relief, entirely? Would love to know! Wishing you a gentle and symptom-free day ~ Sawyer (migraine.com team)
