"I have AMAZING news! My student had her 504 last Tuesday (with her mom – who is super migraine mom advocate- I may have coached a bit on this!) and she got many wonderful accommodations. First, I want to tell you that I showed the student this site and we looked at all the ideas people had. We really focused on what she could do to unlock the information in her head and also what to do if she has a migraine during a test. She was able to get: 1. "a cheat sheet" 2. verbal memory prompts 3. extended time 4. she can take up to a 24 hour break from a test. Her previous accommodation was to leave a test for a few minutes and then return. This student argued how crazy that is, if she is in the throws of a migraine, she has to take care of it. It doesn't go away in 3 minutes. I can't thank all of you enough! I had a long conversation with the mom the night before the meeting. She was completely fired up and she got everything her child needs...hopefully to continue her previous success before the medicine induced memory loss. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! (She is worried that one teacher will not buy-in...I encouraged her to send that teacher to this site and educate herself!) Be well, JMS"
