50 Years of pain

My migraine started when I was about 10 or 12 years old. Back then most doctors thought someone that age was just looking for attention. My mother knew better because all the women in her family suffered from migraines. We finally found a doctor that would loosen however there wasn’t much they knew about migraines Except to give you meds. I was given narcotics.

    Hi KathrineAnn,

That’s a long time to be in pain. You are living proof migraine disease has a hereditary component to it.

Have you had an opportunity to see a doctor who is a true expert in headache medicine? These doctors may be different from neurologists in that they are board certified in headache medicine, which is different than being certified in neurology, and specialize in headache medicine. When you get a moment take a look at these articles detailing how these doctors are different and how to find one; http://migraine.com/blog/how-are-migraine-specialists-different/ and

I’m currently seeing my 5th true expert and can finally see some progress!

    Keep me posted!
    Nancy
