Waking up with throbbing head pain

I have about 1 week a month where I do not wake up with throbbing head pain. One day my husband told me that this guy he works with was telling him that when his wife gets a headache, she wears earplugs. So, he suggested me to try to sleep with ear plugs in. I thought that was crazy, but willing to try anything. I woke up Monday morning with my head throbbing and that night slept with ear plugs in.

I couldn't believe it, but woke up and my head didn't hurt. I am now on day 4 of no throbbing head pain waking me up, so I am still testing the theory.
Has anyone else heard of this or tried it?

I guess I just don't understand what earplugs have to do with headaches?
